The Reserva Natural Serra do Tombador (Serra do Tombador Natural Reserve) is located in the town of Cavalcante, in Northeastern Goiás, around 420 kilometers from Brasília and 20 kilometers from the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. The area was acquired by Fundação Grupo Boticário in 2007 and recognized as a Private Natural Heritage Preserve (PNHP) in 2009.
It is part of the Goyaz Cerrado Biosphere Preserve and is one of the largest Private Natural Heritage Reserves in the country containing Cerrado (Brazilian Savannah) vegetation. Its more than eight thousand hectares are comprised by several natural formations of this biome which is under strong threat by deforestation and the conversion of areas into farmlands.
The Reserva Natural Serra do Tombador offers support for scientific surveys and is not open to public visitation.
In the Reserve there are 435 species of vascular plants, 35 species of mammals, 346 bird species, as well as 56 species of reptiles and amphibians.
